K2BASE - About K2

K2 BASE(KISTEP Knowledge Base) is a system that assists policy activities such as appropriate and timely policy establishment, budget allocation and coordination,
and policy evaluation with a view to improving ability to respond to policy environment change. For the purpose, the system provides a variety and vast store of
data and information as well as in-depth analysis. Among the information provided are technology trends, current states of R&D investment, and detailed information
of the programs. Going one step further, the proper methodologies and tools have been developing. We expect that those efforts make policy decisions policies have
a scientific ground with evidence and quantitative data.

(2) Establish a knowledge base for comprehensive assistance of researches on technology forecasting and other fields of science and technology
(3) Sophisticate the functions of statistics and assistance of budget allocation and coordination
(4) Build up a portal system to support network-based policy decisions
(5) Collect data and information and expand stable operating base

KISTEP has worked on establishment of a knowledge base system since 2008. As a result, K2 has been established with a focus on decision-making assistance,
its major functions centered on the data management and sharing in the field of S&T policies and programs related. Since 2013, the work of enhancing K2 BASE has
been launched, which is called the second phase of Science of Science and Technology policy. This shoots for effectively dealing with social and economic problems to
the ultimate. For the purpose, the system has been designed to facilitate formation and expansion of S&T policy network and community, and to enhance cooperation
and coordination among parties concerned.
